Mama Fu’s Starts 2008 with More Good Fu in Central Austin!

Media Contact:  Randy Murphy, 512-535-5255, randy@mamafusaustin.com

January 3, 2008 – Austin, TX.  Mama Fu’s Asian House opens its flagship location in Central Austin today at the Triangle.  After opening two locations in far south (Southpark Meadows) and north Austin (Lakeline Blvd at Hwy 183) with success, Mama Fu’s is now ready to make its mark in the center of town.

Randy Murphy, CEO of Murphy Restaurant Group, has personally overseen the build-out of the Triangle location, which is next door to the new Office Max.  The Triangle is the highly anticipated mixed-use development sandwiched between Guadalupe and 45th Streets and Lamar Blvd., where the popular lunch eatery Mandola’s Italian Market currently resides.

Murphy signed the lease at the Triangle over three years ago in anticipation of this great location.  Mama Fu’s restaurants will bring in an estimated $4M to the Austin area this year, including the Triangle location.  Murphy Restaurant Group has invested over $2.3M into the Austin area Mama Fu’s locations, and will continue to invest into the Austin community with the much anticipated Second Street District location opening in Spring 2008 at the corner of Colorado and Cesar Chavez:

“We are very excited to launch our Mama Fu’s Triangle location. It will give us an opportunity to reach many of our current customers more frequently, and introduce our quality cuisine and high energy atmosphere to many new customers in Central Austin.”

The Triangle location will offer its customers Asian fusion cuisine including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes that are exquisitely prepared by highly-trained wok cooks using fresh, high quality ingredients.  Mama Fu’s menu favorites include Thai Dynamite Shrimp, Lettuce Wraps, Thai Coconut Soup, Spicy General Fu, Seared Ahi Steak and Ginger Sesame Salad.  Each dish is made-to-order in an open kitchen setting.  The Triangle location will offer fast, counter service by day and relaxing table service at night.  Like all locations, Mama Fu’s Triangle will also offer patio dining, live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, and free Wi-Fi, great for students and professionals in the area.

Mama Fu’s dedication to the Austin community doesn’t stop with its newest locations this year.  It has partnered with the Center for Child Protection in 2008 to offer support to the Center throughout the year.  Mama Fu’s will be donating 50% of its Grand Opening Day revenue to the Center, and Mama Fu’s panda bears will be available to patrons who would like to purchase a bear for a child that has experienced trauma in some way (all panda bear sales also go to the Center; please go to www.centerforchildprotection.org for more information).

“We are very proud about our expansion in our hometown of Austin; we have created a large, loyal following of customers, and have now eclipsed 100 total employees.  We look forward to continuing to serve the Austin community in a commerce, employment and charitable capacity moving ahead.”

Dine-in or take-out is available daily from 11 am to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and Mama Fu’s is always available for catering. For more information, please call (512) 637-6771, or check out the store online at www.mamafusaustin.com.
